Obviously, the laptop has great specs. So, it’s a given that this laptop is a very nice machine.
I have not encountered any negatives with this laptop. I’ll update this if I do.
Some people in the Acer Predator forum have mentioned having temperature issues. From my research, it seems that most gaming laptops run pretty hot. So far, I haven’t encountered any temperature issues that would concern me. I am playing Skyrim on max settings.
One of the pictures shows the removable cooler master fan incorrectly labeled as a battery. It is definitely not a battery. The laptop does come with the cooler master fan which can be inserted into the drive where the DVD player goes. I haven’t used the extra fan yet.
Well, temps stayed below 52 degrees.

    -High quality fit and finish
    -No bloatware
-Fast, as expected given the core i7 Intel chip, NVidia GTX 1070, SSD, etc.
-NVidia GeForce Experience app is useful to find my games and optimize the graphics settings for me. Very nice.
-Predator Sense app allows for overclocking with the click of your mouse
-Included additional cooling fan is easy to swap out for the optical drive when you don’t need the drive.
-World of Warcraft is like a new game for me compared to the 2009 MacPro I was playing on before.
-I’m very happy with the purchase and would recommend it
-Fan noise – during gaming the fans crank up and interfere with the game sound, but cramming this type of hardware in a laptop case (even one this big) is going to generate some heat, so I expected this. Easily overcome with external speakers or a headset.
-Windows 10 quirks like current issue of ignoring my attempts at setting default Mail and Browser apps. but this is not Acer’s fault of course. Minor inconvenience
-This rig and accompanying huge power brick are indeed heavy as the professional reviewers warned. Also, not much of an issue, because I didn’t buy this machine to move it around much. It’s designed to be a desktop replacement machine, and fills that role nicely.
-Everything comes loaded on the SSD, which is configured as the boot drive, of course. The 1 TB HDD is configured as a data drive. To keep a strategy of keeping only the OS and my most frequently used apps and data on the small SSD, I opted to install MS Office on the data drive. No issues, works well.
-I would recommend giving this machine serious consideration if you’re looking for a fast gaming PC and you really don’t want to deal with building your own rig or having to worry about buying from a boutique builder that might send you one of the lemons you read about in reviews AND the idea of mobility is appealing to you. If you plan to carry it from room to room frequently, you might get the added bonus of no longer needing to lift at the gym, as it is a bit heavy as I pointed out earlier.
